SWiP presents: Study Buddy Speed Dating! Oct 8th, 7pm in KPTC
One of the key elements of performing well in the introductory physics sequences is forming a study group of classmates with whom you can work on psets and study for exams. The psets are often long and difficult, and group discussion is helpful to master the material, brainstorm problem solving techniques, and can be a great way to make the course more manageable and enjoyable. More than that, your study group can be a source of support and friendship.
But good study buddies are hard to find… That’s why we want to help you meet peers with whom you can conquer weekly psets! Join us for an opportunity to mingle with students in your class and find people who match your study style and goals. Unfortunately, we won't be hosting a live event for students in remote sections, but we will still help you find your perfect study group (check out the questionnaire to learn more).
How it'll work:
First we will send out a short questionnaire about your working habits and expectations (how quickly you start on assignments, when you prefer to work, how you like groups to be structured, whether you intend to major/minor in physics, etc). This will help us sort everyone into groups based on their responses. We understand that everyone has different experiences and expectations, and that this will tie into what sort of group dynamics and logistics are most preferable. [If you didn't fill out the questionnaire before it closed, no worries! You are still welcome to join in!]
The event will be structured in groups of a few people based on the questionnaire responses and class section
The groups will be changed after some time to give you the chance to meet other groups of like-minded classmates, have fun, and find your study buddies
